These quick and simple crack chicken sliders are a weeknight dinner that can be made in less than 30 minutes. This kid-friendly recipe will quickly become a household favorite.

Whenever I make a whole chicken in the slow cooker, I always find myself with plenty of leftover shredded chicken. I love that these leftovers give me a head start on another dinner for the week. One of my favorite ways to use shredded chicken is in crack chicken sliders.

The seasonings that have already been used to make the whole chicken make this recipe even more flavorful and delicious, but I’ve also made this recipe plenty of times starting from scratch with unseasoned chicken. The seasoning options are endless but can be as simple as salt and pepper. For traditional crack chicken flavor, add a packet of ranch seasoning.

You can serve these sliders alongside oven-fried red potatoes or fresh veggies and a dip. They make a great dish to bring to parties and gatherings. I like to serve crack chicken on homemade sourdough Hawaiian rolls, but it tastes great on any bread or bun. I like these Sourdough Hawaiian Rolls from Farmhouse on Boone.

Crack chicken sliders are a meal that I know I can quickly throw together with minimal effort. It’s one of those dinner ideas that doesn’t stress me out all day long. It can come together even faster if you keep shredded chicken in your freezer or canned on your pantry shelf.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

30 minute meal-Once you have your shredded chicken prepared, this meal comes together in no time. The only thing that is left is giving the cheeses time to melt and meld perfectly to make creamy chicken.

Few ingredients-No long lists of ingredients or complicated tasks for this recipe! Simply chicken, cheeses, and seasonings.

Kid-friendly-With chicken and cheese, how could you go wrong? Even the littlest members of your household will love this recipe. Even better, the sliders make fun little sandwiches for the kids to easily devour.

Ingredients

Chicken: You can shred chicken from a whole chicken, slow cook chicken breasts all day, or quickly cook chicken breasts in the instant pot and then shred. Any method will work. You just need shredded chicken.

Cream Cheese: Gives this recipe the perfect creamy texture.

Cheddar Cheese: I like mild cheddar cheese, but choose your favorite kind. I bet even cheeses like pepperjack would add great flavor to this recipe.

Buns or Rolls: Sourdough Hawaiian Rolls are my favorite.

Recipe FAQs

Serve crack chicken sliders alongside fries, oven-fried red potatoes, your favorite chips, pickle spears, or veggies and a dip.

A great chicken slider is made by combining chicken with something creamy such as cream cheese, cheese, sour cream, mayo and then adding a pop of flavor and seasoning. The creamy mouthfeel with great flavor on a buttery roll makes the perfect comfort food!

Yes! Fully assemble sliders and store in an air-tight or covered 9×13 pan in the fridge until time to serve. Heat them up by covering the pan with foil and placing in a 350 degree oven for 20-30 minutes or until heated through.
